Exercise Crocodile

Indication

Suitable for discomfort due to lack of strength of the external rotators of the hip ( e.g., piriformis syndrome, knee pain on the inside, hallux valgus).

Purpose

Strengthening of the external rotators of the hip.

Exercise

Starting position: Lay on your side, the lower leg stretched. The upper leg is bent in right angles in the hip, knee, and ankle. Lift the upper knee towards the ceiling with the foot resting on the floor. The trunk does not move during the exercise. Then slowly lower the knee again. Just before you touch the ground, repeat the exercise by pushing up the knee again.

IMPORTANT: While exercising, try to pull up actively the outer edge of the foot so that the sole does not touch the ground.

Recommendation

You can enhance the exercise by pushing the knee forward.
